Some stories in American History are too big for me to add anything to. The surrender of Cornwallis; the Bill of Rights; Apollo 11; Sam and Diane’s kiss; and doubling the size of our country. In 1803, Napoleon sold us all-or-part of 14 states: AK, MO, IA OK, KS, NE, MN, ND, SD, NM, MT, WY, CO, and LA for a $15 million check.
It was the greatest land deal in history. All I can contextualize is how cheap this was: In 1991, Jean-Claude Van Damme made a terrible movie called Double Impact. (Really, it blows. He plays, and fights, himself.) Double Impact cost $15 million.
