George Cockburn, Admiral of Her Majesty’s Empire’s Fleet, led the charge to occupy—and burn the public and government buildings in—the young capital city of Washington during the War of 1812. The White House and Capitol Building were torched down to their limestone skeletons, Pennsylvania Avenue was decimated — and this guy has this scene of awfulness used as the backdrop to his own heroic pose. Whatta jerk!
